Happy Release Day Helena Hunting

Pucked Up is FINALLY Here!!!!

Miller “Buck” Butterson has been banging his way through life ever since a puck to the face fixed his messed up front teeth, and he was drafted into the NHL during his first year of college. After five years of deflecting goals on the ice and scoring them with puck bunnies across the Continental US and parts of Canada, Miller is ready for a girlfriend. A real girlfriend of the non-bunny variety. One he takes on dates and doesn’t jump into bed with after five seconds of conversation.

Miller thinks he’s found that woman in his teammate’s sister. Except, unlike Alex Waters, center, team captain and all round nice guy—who happens to be dating his step-sister—Miller’s manwhore reputation is well earned, and not blown out of proportion by the media. Beyond that minor detail, Miller doesn’t know the first thing about having a girlfriend. But he’s determined to make it happen.

What he doesn’t take into account is the amount of time and effort relationships require, or that constantly letting bunnies take selfies with him to post all over social media isn’t going to win him any points in the boyfriend department. Miller learns—not so quickly—that if he wants to make Sunshine “Sunny” Waters fall for him, he going to have to do a whole lot more than show her his stick skills in the bedroom.

MY REVIEW

5 MotherPucking Stars – Move over Alex Waters! Get ready to fall head over heels for The Yeti!

“I don’t want to be doomed to a life of bunnies and no substance. They’re not what I want. I want someone consistent. But caring the much about someone gives them a lot of power, and that makes me nervous. Power hurts people.”

The characters that made you laugh until tears ran down your leg in Pucked are all back in this brand new release from Helena Hunting! Pucked Up is the second book in the Pucked series, and this book is Miller “Buck” Buttersons’ and Sunny Water’s book. As we all know Buck “The Yeti” is Violet’s step brother and Sunny is Alex’s sister. It’s safe to say that if you loved Pucked as much as I did, that Pucked Up is going to be your next favorite book.

Buck is a hockey player, one that is known for his notorious antics with bunnies (puck bunnies are hockey player fangirls interested in scoring between the sheets with hockey players btw), but since the night he spent with Sunny, talking, there was no sexing at all,  he hasn’t had a single inclination to hang with the bunnies. He likes this girl; she’s smart, sweet, not slutty and doesn’t fall over at the sight of him with her legs in the air. She is a challenge…

“So maybe part of it is the challenge. But when I see her, I’m pretty sure the tingly feeling in my dick matches that weird feeling in my chest.”

Sunny is used to hockey players, her brother is a famous one after all. Buck is nice, he’s sexy and she likes him more than she should. She will not be just another f*ck and chuck. She keeps Buck at arm’s length so to speak physically and is determined to take things slowly. She knows all too well of his reputation and she has no interest in being splashed all over social media as yet another bunny. Alex is none too happy with the fact that his baby sister is spending time with his teammate and soon to be brother in law. He’s making no attempts to hide it either. It’s going to cause problems, it’s a fact.

“I miss her mouth. I miss everything about her even though she’s right in front of me. Maybe this is what love is. If so I’m not sure I like it all that much. This feels like I’ve taken a puck to the balls, except it’s hurting from the inside out instead.”

While Buck makes all of his best efforts to see where this relationship can go with Sunny, hilariousness ensues. With every attempt to remain loyal to Sunny, something else happens, making him look like the manwhore that he used to be. I fell in love with Buck in this book; I got to see a whole new side to this beast of a man: a softer side, a sensitive side, an insecure side, a vulnerable side even. He is committed to making this work with Sunny no matter what. Sunny made me a little angry throughout the book though, she’s a strong woman, but for all that, she listens far too much to everyone else has to say, and allows them to push her around a bit. She’s falling in love with the yeti and still she allows them to plant seeds of doubt about his intentions multiple times throughout the book. That being said the total hilariousness that is littered throughout made me laugh till I cried. My stomach hurt I laugh so hard. Buck gets himself into some incredibly awkward situations, and seeing him trying to get himself out of them was priceless.

“Being the provider of the first big “O” gives me some power. It elevates my status. I’m the White Knight in the land of Orgasmia, wielding my magical sword of awesome.”

His interactions with Violet were PRICELESS! Epically funny overshares included. Exchanges about the Super Mc, the moops, sex and spider bites! Make it stop! It hurts to laugh that hard! There is also a lotion incident that left me laughing so hard I thought I might pee myself.
GOOD TIMES INDEED.

Pucked Up is every bit as funny as Pucked, it’s sexy, it’s sweet, and it’s fun. Having the honor of reading an advanced readers copy of Pucked Up, priceless. Helena Hunting writes romantic comedy like a boss. The writing is tight, smart and the story keeps you flipping the pages at a furious pace. I whipped through this one so quickly, I almost have regret. I loved it so much I think I may have read it too quickly; I should have wallowed a bit. Rest assured I will be re-reading it again. Being a Canadian I absolutely loved seeing all of the Canadianisms throughout. With the perfect amount of emotion, lots of sexy times, passion, and dramatic gut bustlingly funny events Pucked Up gives the fans just what they have been begging for. It gives us yet another chance to lose ourselves in a story that is lighter and funnier than most. This book is the perfect read for anyone in a reading slump, or suffering from a book hangover. If you have not yet discovered this amazing Canadian author, or her fabulous books, I’m not sure what you are waiting for. I went into Goodreads and added every single one of her books to my TBR. I became overly excited when I saw Pucked Over on the list, if she writes 15 more books in this series; I’ll be begging to read every single one. Talent, this lady has it, without a doubt.

“There are no refunds and no exchanges with love. It comes with flaws and imperfections. It’s raw, unfiltered, and sometimes it isn’t easy. But I’ve found the best things in life are the ones I’ve had to work hardest for. Especially Sunny.”

FGBB PLAYS 20 QUESTIONS WITH

THE

MOTHERPUCKING FABULOUS

HELENA HUNTING...

Where did the original idea for the Pucked series come from? Are you a hockey fan?

As a Canadian, I’m not sure it’s legal to NOT be a fan of hockey. Before the hubs and I were married I used to go watch him play. It was recreational, not competitive, but fun. He served a lot of penalty minutes :). I was wrapping up the first draft of Clipped Wings and Inked Armor and I really needed a break from the heavy angst, so I decided to have some fun with a Canadian hockey player.

How many books can we expect from this series in total? Do you love these characters as much as we do?

PUCKED Over, the third book in the series is scheduled to release in early 2016. I have plans for at least another book, maybe two in the series. I’m having so much fun with these characters. I’m super excited for PUCKED Up. I really love Miller AKA Buck. He’s a doll. It’s been a trip showing his world through his eyes, and Violet, of course. They’re much closer than she ever intimates in PUCKED, but you see the brother-sister dynamic a lot more in PUCKED Up.

Being a mom and wife, how do you balance writing such incredible books and  managing social media with life? Do find social media a useful tool to market your books?

I’m fortunate to have a lot of support from my family. Finding a balance is difficult and this industry is ever-changing. I think social media is an incredibly powerful tool and it’s such a great way to connect with readers. Sometimes it’s also a very good way to procrastinate. I try not to let that happen too much.

When new and aspiring authors come to you for advice and tips, what do you tell them?

Ask for help when you need it. Find a solid group of peers in the author community who focus on the positive aspects of this career, and are willing to provide guidance when they can.

Which one of your characters from the Pucked universe do you relate to the most? Are any of them modeled after real people in your life?

Are my characters modeled after real people? No, but I think pieces of our lives slip into our books no matter whether or not it’s intentional. These ideas come from within us, and from our environment, so that means in some intrinsic way, they’re an extension of self. I’d like to say I relate most to Alex, but it’s probably Violet. Miller is by far my favourite. I love him and I hope other people do, too. He’s kind of an underdog, and very misunderstood, but his soul is good and that’s what I wanted readers to see in this story.

Are you a bookworm yourself? Have you always been? What book inspired your love of reading?

I’ve already been a reader. The first novel I ever read was Charlotte’s Web. I cried when Charlotte died. I’ve always loved books where the characters and central and the emotional connections are what carry us through the story.

Who are some of your all-time favorite authors?

There are so many, E.B White, JK Rowling, Stephanie Meyer, Anne Marie MacDonald, JR Ward, Karen Marie Moning, Larissa Ione, Melissa Marr, Debra Anastasia, Katherine Stevens (she’ll have a book out sometime next year), SM Lumetta, Emma Chase, EL James, JM Darhower, Belle Aurora, Ella James, Penelope Ward, Daisy Prescott, Liv Morris, Julia Kent, Meghan Quinn, Tara Sivec, Melanie Harlowe, Alice Clayton, Tara Sue Me. I don’t think that covers even half of it. It’s a long list and it keeps growing all the time.

What are some of your all-time favorite books?

Pretty much anything from the authors listed above!

Have you always wanted to be a writer?

Probably? I’ve always loved writing, I just never thought I’d write anything anyone wants to read. I tend not to follow the rules. I do one thing and then change it up just because that’s what I feel like writing. I love falling into worlds and shaking up fictional lives to see what I can do to fix them.

If readers are looking into reading your other books what would you tell them they could expect?

I don’t colour inside the lines and I have a hard time staying in one genre. I mean, it’s all steamy romance, and there’s always a love story, but some of it is angsty and heavy and then there’s the PUCKED series which is just ridiculous.

Do you have any author friends that were able to mentor you and help you get to where you are today?

I am so, so fortunate to have the people I do in my author life. This can be a lonely profession, and sometimes it’s a difficult sea to navigate, but I have some amazing women, and men, in my life who have really been here to support me through this whole journey. Debra Anastasia is the pepper to my salt, and you need to have that in this industry. You never know what’s going to happen from one book to the next, and whether the story you’re telling will be conveyed in a way that people are going to appreciate and enjoy, so having authors to mentor and guide you is huge. The learning curve is steep here, and that means sometimes—or often—you need a hand to hold so you can pull yourself up to the next ledge. Here I go with the rock climbing metaphors. lol

What is the best way in your opinion to have your books seen by readers in a
a market that continues to expand with every growing day?

That is such a tough question. Promote and find ways to do it creatively without slapping people in the face with it incessantly? Intersperse fun stuff with the promo and connect with readers, bloggers and other authors. Some people are great with twitter and IG and Facebook. I try to stay active, to post regularly, and to build a brand and an audience.

If you could be a character from any book for a day who would it be and why?

Such a hard question, there are so many. Twitch from RAW. He’s a sociopath for sure, maybe even a psychopath, but man, would I ever like to spend a day inside his head so I could understand the workings of his mind. Also, I’d like to be a guy for day, just one, so I could experience the joys of peeing standing up and doing the “helicopter”.

What is your favorite part of being a published author

Writing, telling stories and having fun doing it while wearing jammies. I enjoy most of the process, even editing the manuscript seven millions times, lol.

With Pucked being such a huge success, what do you attribute its success?

The cover. But honestly, I think the branding for PUCKED worked well. You have to look twice to make sure you didn’t see the title wrong. And that’s all Shannon Lumetta, my cover designer’s work, right there. We talked about the censor stamp logo and she made it happen. She’s magic.

I think maybe it came on the heels of some very dark stories that were trending at the time, and every once in a while we just need to laugh until we cry. It’s such a good feeling, emotionally and psychologically. I’m just grateful people liked it.

What can readers and fans expect from Helena Hunting in the future?

More in the PUCKED Series, then I have a couple of manuscripts I’d like to get back to. I have some angsty stuff and some funny stuff and some paranormal stuff that I’d like to work on in the future. Right now the Pucked characters are taking up all my brain space, so I’m getting their stories down first.

Who is your all-time favorite book boyfriend?

Zadist from the Black Dagger Brotherhood. I really love paranormal romance. I didn’t even know I loved it as much as I do until after I read the Twilight Series in 2008. Then I was like, man, I need to read adult versions of this, with all the good parts and none of this fade to black. I think I discovered the BDB series in 2010—I know way, way behind. Someone mentioned they thought I’d like it so I started reading. Zadist is such a broken, tortured soul. I’m a sucker for broken.

Having written many novels prior to writing Pucked, how do you explain the success of this novel? Are you surprised by it?

I was terrified of publishing this book. It’s definitely NOT for everyone. Violet is so crass, and ridiculous, and it’s pretty damn smutty. My sense of humour isn’t typical, at least I don’t think it is. I don’t think I’ve ever really “fit in” and so I figured it would probably be the same with this book. I wasn’t sure if people were going to get it, or just think it was stupid, which, let’s be honest, sometimes it is.

I think the cover is probably part of what helped get this book some traction, as I mentioned before. I had this conversation with my author friend Liv Morris about the title, originally it was a lot longer, and I was all, “this is too long” and she was all “yes, it is.” So we started messing around with plays on words and hockey terms and ended up with PUCKED, because seriously, it’s so ridiculous, and it fit the book. Then I brought it my awesome cover designer, SM Lumetta and we came up the censor logo and she worked her awesome magic.

Honestly, I’m just amazed and grateful that people actually want to read it.

What is your favorite book of all the ones you’ve written?

Inked Amor. I really love Hayden and his story. Second on my list would be the story I’m writing now.

Do you have any signings on the calendar for Canadian locations coming up? Could you please do an event in Edmonton??? PRETTY PRETTY PLEASE???

I haven’t been to Alberta in years! I’d love to visit you :D

I cannot possibly Thank Helena enough for taking time out of her busy schedule to do this Q&A for me and her readers! I have finished Pucked Up and I cannot wait for the world to fall in love with Buck “The Yeti” the way that I have. I have no doubt in my mind that Pucked Up will be every bit as much a success as Pucked is!

If you haven’t yet had the chance to fall in love with Helena’s work, I’m not sure what you are waiting for, I have added all of her books to my personal to-be-read-list and I cannot wait to read them. All of her works are listed below, with purchase links so that you can add them to your kindle and fall even more in love <3 FGBB

IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY, GET PUCKED!

With a famous NHL player for a step-brother, Violet Hall is well acquainted with the playboy reputation many hockey stars come with. She’s smart enough to steer clear of those hot, well-built boys with unparalleled stamina. That is until she meets the legendary team captain—Alex Waters.

Violet isn’t interested in his pretty, beat-up face, or his rock-hard six-pack abs. But when Alex inadvertently obliterates Violet’s previous misapprehension regarding the inferior intellect of hockey players, he becomes more than just a hot body with a face to match.

In what can only be considered a complete lapse in judgment, Violet finds out just how good Alex is with the hockey stick in his pants. But what starts out as a one-night stand, quickly turns into something more. Post-night of orgasmic magic, Alex starts to call, and text, and e-mail and send extravagant—and quirky—gifts, making him difficult to ignore, and even more difficult not to like.

The problem is, the media portrays Alex as a total player, and Violet doesn’t want to be part of the game.

MY REVIEW

“Inside my room in the suite, I slide down the door, breathing hard. I hit the floor with a wince; my cooter has been in an epic battle – with a cock monster.”

5 Stars – A hilarious and sexy romance that is sure to leave you grinning from ear to ear and your stomach aching!

Pucked has been on my wish list for quite some time and now that I’ve finally had a chance to read it, I’m quite sure I will never look at beavers the same way again!!!!

Violet Hall is a junior accountant that is more than familiar with egotistical hockey players, her step brother Buck, is a hockey player after all and there is nothing that she loathes more than puck bunnies and hockey hookers. She has zero interest in dating hockey players after her one and only disastrous attempt last year. Alex Waters is Captain for The Hawks, he’s a rockstar on the ice and according to the media between the sheets as well *wink wink*. Violet is struck by Alex and his hotness the very first time she sets eyes on him, soon realizing he’s actually spent a lot of time running through her fantasies recently!

“It’s then I realize where I recognize him from: the milk advertisements. Sweet Lord, I’ve been jilling off to him”

I can honestly say that after I finished reading this book, I’ve never read anything quite like it. It’s sexy of course, super super sexy indeed, but it’s also funny, and I mean laugh till you cry and snort funny. I had stomach pains from laughing so hard. Violet has got to be one of the most quirky and engaging characters I’ve read in a long time. The words that come out of her mouth are HILARIOUS and her inner thoughts are even more hilarious! She has very little filter between her mouth and her brain, and it just gets funnier with every page!

“I love his penis. I want to give it a sponge bath and dress it up like a super hero.”

Alex is sweet and sexy; he’s thoughtful and totally enamored by Violet! I fell in love with him, from the very start. He’s impossible not to love and he’s Canadian! Can he be any more perfect? But the man that’s used to women falling all over themselves to get to him is having a hard time reconciling the fact that the one woman he wants the most seems to be either oblivious or resistant to his many charms and talents.

“I can’t wait to have my mouth on you again. I’m gonna eat you like I’m on death row and you’re my last goddamn meal.”

Alex and Violet’s story is jam packed full of sexy times, and humor. It is one of the funniest books I’ve ever read, truly. Helena Hunting’s writing is fantastic and her characters are completely unforgettable. If this book could be adapted to screen and made into a movie I’d be the first person in line to see it! I’m pretty sure people would be rolling in the aisles dying of laughter! I’ve ever read by this author but I will be checking out all of her others after reading Pucked. This story is so much fun to read, it’s hard to even put into words, but if you’re looking for an off the charts sexy read, with TONS of laughs, Pucked is your next read. It’s a perfect palate cleanser if you’re in a reading slump; it’s addictive from start to finish. Go get Pucked, you can thank me later *wink*

“Verdict: Beaverscaping is dangerous.”
