Twenty-one-year-old Elle Granger’s boyfriend broke up with her like a coward. He moved to another city without so much as a kiss goodbye. Devastated and embarrassed, Elle told her friends the break-up was mutual and hid her heartache working long hours at the library. By night, she self medicated with pot. Weeks later, with her heart and lungs screaming for a break, Elle quits smoking and turns to her friends. But before she can let them in on Jason’s betrayal, her best friend moves to Spain, and her roommates start acting strangely.
Enter sexy library patron Dominic, who sweeps Elle off her feet and into his Maserati. He makes her feel oh so good, and puts effort into coming up with dates that don’t set off her Synaesthesia. Just when Elle starts feeling whole again, Jason returns, determined to reunite. Elle rejects his effusive apologies and reasons for leaving – until she catches Dominic in a devastating lie.
Will his betrayal push her back into her suddenly attentive ex’s arms? Can she trust Jason not to break her heart again? The wrong choice and Elle’s happy ending could go up in smoke. But when your only choices are the devils you know, all you can do is JUST BREATHE

5 Unique and Quirky Stars ★★★★★

Just Breathe is the second full length release from the newly published author Tamara Mataya. Where do I begin, I fell in love with this author’s unique, quirky, intelligent writing style after reading The Best Laid Plans way back when it was still in manuscript format.

Just Breathe is a complete stand alone story about a young woman named Elle. Elle works at her local library, has a rare condition called Synaesthesia, and has been “not dumped” by her tool of an ex boyfriend Jason. As a main character Elle is pretty much everything you can really want. She’s feisty, smart, a little OCD, and genuine. She’s lovable and independent. I fell in love with this quirky and unusual woman. Her friends are quite entertaining and their relationships are extremely important to Elle, as her family seems to be absent. As far as favourite friends, that would be Marie. She is by far my favourite as she’s just plain hilarious. Take no prisoners; say whatever comes into her head with no filter, hilarious. She’s everything a girlfriend should be.

Now let’s talk about Dominic. Oh my, yes, Dominic. Le Sigh. A little alpha, a little sweet and thoughtful, and a whole freaking lot of sexy! Dominic is kind of every woman’s dream man, honest. He’s considerate, and intelligent. Did I mention he’s dreamy and swoon worthy???

Just Breathe is the most original and quirky romances I have read all year. Why you ask? I’ll tell you. It’s conscientious, superbly written, realistic, fantastically intelligent and not at all solely focused on the romance and the sex. There is romance, there is sex of course *wink* but it’s a story that’s well rounded. I’ve not read anything quite like it. It’s refreshing, addictive and the characters take on a life of their very own. If you are looking for a new read, you like romance; you love stories that check off all the boxes, Just Breathe is a spectacular choice. Tamara Mataya’s writing style is incredibly sharp and highly addictive. Once you read one of her novels, you’ll be waiting impatiently for her next. She is a fresh new indie author to watch for, she’s going to be huge, mark my words.

Tamara Mataya is currently a librarian; she lurked there for so long recommending books to patrons and shushing people, that she suspects they only hired her so it would be less creepy. Now she’s armed with a name tag, and a thin veneer of credibility. She’s also a musician with synaesthesia – which isn't an issue until someone plays a wrong note, which makes her want to squirm inside out. It makes for a good live show.

Her debut novel, The Best Laid Plans, published by Swoon Romance, came out November 2013.

~Acclaim For The Best Laid Plans~

With a plot born out of the insecurities that clothed us all in high school, The Best Laid Plans is a story all grown-up geeks can relate to. Tamara Mataya's writing is awesome, tight and HAWT. Her voice is as cheeky as the book's title, and the characters well-drawn and endearing. Except for all the words that she spells with a "U" (Mataya is from Canada), the book is perfect. Definitely an author to watch.’

This story has everything I want in a book--smart sexy characters, fantastic writing, and HEAT. Oh my god, the heat. There are scenes from this story I still can't get out of my head. And the dialogue...holy hell, the way Malcolm and Jayne talk to each other is so hot. This book has some of my favorite lines EVER! I don't want to be spoilery, but here's the one that gets me every time: "She said his name like he was already inside her." *fans self*
If you love contemporary New Adult romance but you're looking for something a little more mature with flawless writing, plenty of steam, and a quick pace--get this book! You're welcome. :)’
