Review: No Pants Required

No Pants Required No Pants Required by Kim Karr
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review

4 I want her again and I haven't even had her yet stars!

Here I am promising more when now hasn't even taken place yet. What the fuck is wrong with me?

This book is just what I needed while on vacation. It's the perfect summer-time RomCom. It's light and funny and hella sexy. Yes, I said hella. Because honestly, there's no other way to describe Camden Waters. That man is one fiiiiiine man. He's smart, fun, and super hot. He's a dirty talker, a romantic, and and and....

Yeah, I'm not sure what else there is to say about Cam. After some serious heartache and setbacks, Cam decides to take his life into his own hands. He leaves the busy New York for laid back Cali. In order to get to Laguna before his first day as a lifeguard, he must board a plane.

Enter Makayla. Smart girl who decides she needs a change in her life. She has enough cash stacked away so she can move to Laguna to live with her bestie, Maggie. She can also afford to take the summer off. Makayla needs something new. She needs to find the old her--or maybe the real her--and she can't do that in New York. Not anymore.

Armed with an iPod and a plane ticket, Makayla receives an email from Maggie with a list of 10 "out of Makayla's comfort zone" things to do. Read smut in public? Buy a bikini and wear it? Join the Mile-High club? Wait---whaaaat?!

How in the world is she supposed to do that. She doesn't flirt. She doesn't do random hook-ups. She's the good girl. She's the uptight bitch, or so her ex thinks so. Humph. That asshole shouldn't get any say whatsoever, but what do I know?!

I'd say these two have quite the meetcute, but that simply isn't true. I won't tell you how they meet, but it's a hell of a story (and conveniently you can find it when you grab this book).

All I'm sayin' is that I wish I had her guts with the Mile-High club adventure. I always get stuck next to kids and gross people on airplanes. Where's my Cam?! I want to sit next to a hottie who likes to read smut.

Need some hot excerpts because you aren't quite sure you want to read this--despite me telling you that you do want to read it--then here you go. Grab a fan. They're hot.

"So, here's how this is going to go. First, I'm going to taste your sweet pussy and eat you like you are my last meal, and then I'm going to fuck you like you've never been fucked."

"Watch me,"
I tell her. "What?" she asks, almost confused. "I want you to watch me make you come."

Review: Maybe Someday

Maybe Someday Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

You know when you find that one book that you didn't expect and it becomes everything you want in a story? No. Well, Maybe Someday was that book for me. I stumbled upon it last year right before I went on vacation. I read the book for the i>very first time while sitting in the kitchen at my boyfriend's parents' house. Why do I share this with you? What does this have to do with this audio listen? Well, everything. It has everything to do with it because as I sat in that kitchen, I fell in love. I fell in love in the same way you learn to bake; slowly, carefully, and passionately. I fell for Ridge and Sydney. I fell for the way they moved (in that dress), the way they resisted, and the way they waited.

As this is technically my third re-read of this book, I have to say that I was no less in love with these characters. In fact, I found myself loving them a little bit more than the first time. I'm not sure if this is because I know where the story leads or if it's because I feel like I know the characters a bit better, but I know that I am still in love with these two. This is the couple that firmly planted me in CoHo's corner for life. This is the couple that I always return to. When asked for a top book boyfriend, Ridge makes that list every single time.

Listening to Ridge and Sydney fall in love is a whole new experience. It's one thing to read and devour with my own eyes, but it's an entirely different feeling to hear them fall in love. The narrators bring something I never expected to their love and it isn't something I'll ever forget.

Why do I always come back to Syd and Ridge? Easy. Their love wasn't easy. They struggled, they pushed, they pulled. In the end, it was all worth it. It was worth every bit of pain, every flaw listed, every hurt, and every smile. Their love was beautiful.

This year, with this reread (okay, this listen), I fell in love while sitting in my car on a 16-hour car ride home from that very kitchen I sat in last year. I drove for 12 hours. For almost 10 of those hours, I spent my time with Ridge and Sydney, Warren and Bridgette, Maggie, Brennan, and Sounds of Cedar. Immersing myself in this world will be something I do from now until I can no longer see or hear.

Review: Spark

Spark Spark by Jennifer Ryder
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review

Aidan Stone. Hot, sexy, gorgeous man. I want one. Especially one with an Australian accent!

Eevie has finally moved out on her own. After taking care of her family for several years, she is able to branch out and live a little. She goes out on the town with her friends, she has a good job, and she is looking for her Mr. Perfect.

Eevie's best friend Jon is everything to her. Except a love interest. Too bad for him, that's exactly what he wants out of her. Can I explain how much I dislike this guy? He's a real dick. Who gives their best friend an ultimatum? Who makes their best friend choose a life with them or without? This asshole. I'm super glad he isn't around much.

As Eevie is on the path of self-discovery, she encounters Alex, an older man with a kinky side. Does she know about this kinky side? Not until after> she realizes he's a real creeper. Alex. Ugh. As hot as those kinks seemed to be, I'm glad he's gone too. This paves the way for the REAL man to show up.

After this, Aidan is the man to have. He's sweet and kind and caring and he wants Eevie. And Eevie wants him. This relationship starts with a nice low burn. The kind of pull that you're not sure even exists, but then you experience it--in a hand hold, a glance, an accidental brushing of arms--and you know it does. You're 110% sure that this is the person you've been saving yourself for. You know it's the person you've been waiting to share your life with.

But what do you do when disaster strikes? Do you become closer or do you move on? How does one deal with serious problems? For Aidan and Eevie, I believe their love becomes stronger than ever before. They are in it for the long haul. They have that Spark.

And with a name like Aidan Maverick Stone, what's not to love?

Review: Trinity

Trinity Trinity by M. Never
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 We Have Something Special Stars!

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review

Holy shitballs what did I just read? Quick, dirty, hot, and fast Trinity is everything I want in an mmf romance. This novella packs one hell of a punch and I couldn't have been more satisfied with this book. Chase, Shane, and Jenn will go down as one of my favorite mmf relationships.

Did I say that I'd love to be Jenn? That chick just got a rockin' new hair-do, has a kick-ass job as the manager/runner of things/chef at The CorkScrew, and managed to snag two--NOT ONE BUT TWO--beautiful men. I need to fall into this kind of life.

I wasn't sure how all of this would wrap up, but M. Never did it very neatly. The book didn't feel rushed and the storyline was well told. I will be reading everything this lady writes after experiencing this book.

Excerpt:

"He was over here for like five hours last night drinking and talking with Dad. You think I like him? My dad's in love. And the way he didn’t hesitate to put Benji in his place, I just think Dad’s got a good feeling about him."

"Shit, I've got a good feeling about him too... and it's in my panties." She laughs and motions toward her crotch. "If I had been working and saw him do that to Benji's fat ass, I would've let him fuck me right on top of the bar…and I would’ve let everyone watch."

"Brandi!"

"I'm serious. Fuck it!”

"You're ridiculous."

"Paige, don't tell me you didn't notice that anaconda stuffed into his jeans?"

"What?! What the fuck are you talking about? Anaconda? I wasn't looking at his damn jeans." I laugh, finding it hard to not to love this girl who has become like a sister to me. She's the craziest bitch I know, but she's got my back no matter what. She's had it since day one.

"Why wouldn’t you look at his jeans? That’s where his dick is!”

Brandi's Review:

4.5 Do you know who did it? Stars!
I know what I thought I was getting when I received this book. I thought I was getting a hot, erotic novel peppered with a story. Hahaha. BT is probably laughing at me right now and if he isn't, he missed his chance.

What did I get with this book? A story about a family wronged, a story about a man wronged, a story about a new love that never got to flourish because of some seriously fucked-up circumstances. BT touches on many issues with this book. Serious issues. Rape, drugs, murder, child-abuse. He shows that how it can be difficult to get out of the life you were born into and even when you do, you may not really ever get out. It shows a corrupt legal system, a strained foster care system, and how sometimes love doesn't conquer your past. This story is one of love, triumph, and becoming more than you thought possible.

So, want a bit of the story and not just my thoughts? Well, Xander is passing through Truman Valley just like he does everywhere he goes. That is, until he sees Paige. After defending Paige against a grabby-handed drunk, her father, Jack, invites him over for dinner for the following night. One drink leads to another and before you know it, Xander is working on Jack's vineyard. Is it a bit fast? Maybe, but hey--it's fiction and Jack needs help out there. He also knows his son isn't going to help and the local boys all suck (more or less).

The attraction between Paige and Xander is obvious, but it is also muted. Xander respects Jack. Xander fights his attraction to Paige, but that doesn't mean he just sits back and let's people fuck with her. NOOOOO. He defends her time and again. With a slow build between these two, BT draws you in and keeps you wondering when it will happen for Paige and Xander.

As events progress, it's easy to see this isn't a typical romance book. Hell, I wouldn't even label it a romance book. At least not on it's own. Maybe a murder/mystery/romance? Suspense? I don't know. Does it need a label? I think not. The writing is solid, the story is good, and the characters are strong. I'd love to see more of this couple in future books.

BT has proven that he can stand on his own in the book world. This book proves that. I look forward to the next in this series because I am definitely a fan of this author. Keep putting stuff like this out there and I'll never go away.
