There's only one person I want to see when I return home. But I know he won't be waiting. It's the reason I feel safe enough to come back.

I'm so wrong.

Ash isn't the same quiet boy from next door. He's tall, dark, and demanding answers. He wants me, but he doesn't trust me. Who can blame him? When his own family tried to break him down, he still sheltered me in this town full of liars. And I repaid it by leaving him without a word.

But I'll do anything to protect him. I have the scars on my wrist to prove it.

NOT a standalone novel. There are always two sides to every tale, and this is Katie's story.

Contains strong language, sexual situations, and mature themes. This novel is not intended for readers under the age of 17.

A breeze rose up and my hair fluttered into my face, covering my eyes. I brushed the strands away while Ash reached toward me to do the very same thing. He quickly lowered his arm to his side. My whole body pulsed in disappointment, and it struck me how this was a split-second snapshot of our story.

I attempted to walk away, but he braced his other arm on the wall, blocking me from leaving. I forced myself to look at him. Really look at him, and let him look at me. I owed him that much. His gaze stayed on my eyes, daring me to hold the connection.

To my surprise, his face had changed. Ash was always handsome, but his face had taken an edge, losing some of the softness of youth. Only his eyes were the same, starbursts of green and gold framed in thick dark lashes. But the shape of his jaw was stronger. His cheekbones sharper.

I bit the inside of my lip. His nose wasn’t blade straight anymore. There was a slight tilt and bump, as if it had been broken. And a small pink scar over one of his eyebrows. Possessiveness overtook my thoughts. I wanted to know what happened, who hurt him and where I could find them so I could tear them apart myself. I gave myself a mental shake. He wasn’t mine to be possessive about. Or maybe I meant obsessive.

“We need to talk,” he demanded. “You made me think you left for Michigan when you took off.”

“You know how I am.” I tilted my head to hide the fact I was lying to his face again. “I just decided at the last minute, and didn’t think.”

“Bullshit.” He leaned in closer. The air thickened as his breath tickled my cheek.“ Changed your phone number and deleted your email accounts at the last minute, too?”

When I’m not plotting elaborate schemes in my head, I’m having a fabulous time with my own real life story. That’s what happens when you have three awesome kids, two fluffy (useless) cats, and one very patient husband. Currently, we live in the mountains of West Virginia.

I can cook like a fiend but prefer to eat doughnuts with sprinkles for breakfast. Sprinkles make everything taste better. An avid reader of all genres, I shamelessly admit romance will always be my favorite. And while I enjoy the safe and familiar, I’m always up for an adventure.

Gemma Andrews doesn’t trust men.

One summer, her last summer stuck with these people, is about to change all of that.

He helps her to reconnect with the brother and sister she has kept at a safe distance all these years. In the end, maybe, just maybe, Abe can show Gemma that all men aren’t bad and that he’ll be the one who’ll be there for her.

Ten Fun Facts (It turned into 12 because I am just that fun.)

1. I was 6 weeks pregnant the day we adopted our son... and 10 weeks pregnant before I knew.
2. I can only watch my favorite movie, Life as a House, once a year because of how much it makes me ugly cry.
3. I have an unhealthy obsession with Emma Stone, thus my short run as a redhead.
4. I have a tattoo on my wrist that makes me feel like a rebel every time I see it.
5. My husband likes my books. This may seem silly to most but when your man loves to read a girly love story you wrote, it's pretty much awesome.
6. I've never broken a bone or sprained anything. (Knock on wood)
7. I do not listen to music when I write, it distracts me, however, songs always inspire scenes and even books. I also have to have music to edit or I will lose my mind.
8. My celebrity crush, and the only man I'm allowed to leave my husband for, is John Krasinski.
9. I hate, hate, hate beach vacations. They bore me to death. I love big cities with a lot to do. I'll be vising NYC for a week in September.
10. I tried grape hooka once and now if I smell grape leaves I gag and run.
11. I have a degree in accounting and don't use it AT ALL.
12. I hate bananas but love banana pudding and banana bread.

When they made it back to the group all eyes were on them and then just as quickly looking around inconspicuously. She looked up at Abe and rolled her eyes as he chuckled, “It’s nice to know they care,” he whispered. As they started to walk again his arm came in contact with hers and he straightened his finger to brush along her hand. She had to concentrate on her steps to keep from going down.
“Hey guys,” Emily yelled from the far side of the group, “we’re all going in, come on.”
Gemma watched as one after the other the perfect girls around her started ripping off their shirts and the males around gawked obviously. Suddenly shy, she lowered her hands from the hem of her shirt and looked out to the water, “you know, I’ve been trying to read for about a week now and haven’t had time because someone keeps sending me home. I think I’ll stay up here and take advantage of his distractions.”
Abe reached out and pulled her back to his front, resting his hand on her hip. “If that’s what you want,” he lowered his mouth to her ear and instantly goosebumps erupted everywhere, “but I can’t lie, it’s killing me not to see what you have under there.”
She turned her head in surprise, putting their mouths dangerously close, “Really?”
“You have no idea,” he made sure she was looking him in the eyes before continuing, “Sexiest girl out here is hiding on the beach. I’m not the only guy disappointed, I’m just the only one with a shot in hell to see more, later.”  He smirked at her and then kissed her cheek. “See you soon.”
She finally let her legs do what they had been waiting to do since he brushed her hand, and fell to the sand. A shiver ran down her back. This was not her life. The sexy, confident, bachelor didn’t beg her for a chance. He didn’t fight for her. And yet, here she sat, completely turned on, watching him look back over his shoulder at her. Shaking her head to herself as she stood and found her bag and proceeded to pretend to read, trying not to make it obvious her eyes didn’t leave him for a second.

Hours later Gemma made her way down the beach and kept her eyes peeled for Abe. He was supposed to be waiting for her just down the road from her house but he hadn’t been there. They had been apart for two hours and she already ached for him. She knew it was only going to get worse as they took things to the next level and she couldn’t make herself care. Slightly annoyed that he still wasn’t in sight she kicked a rock as she rounded the corner that brought her to the first entrance to the public beach. As she closed the gate behind herself she turned and her eyes rounded in surprise. “Abe,” she took a few steps closer so they could hear each other better, “what is this?”
He smiled as he walked up to meet her, “I remember you saying that if it was possible to sleep in a hammock out here you would.”
She quickly took the last couple of steps that separated them and jumped, wrapping her arms around his neck. “It’s perfect. You are so damn perfect.” She smiled as he wrapped one arm around her waist and pulled her knees up with the other, carrying her to the hammock.
“As you’ve seen the past couple nights we have about two hours before they show up at the bakery. We won’t do anything you don’t want to do. We won’t go any further than you want to go. But, Gemma, I’m begging you, please just let me kiss you a little more tonight.”  He lowered her on to the hammock and then eased himself up beside her. They rolled toward the middle, facing one another.
“How can I tell you to stop when you haven’t started?”
“Good point,” he placed his hand on her thigh and started working it up her leg. She immediately reached down and stopped his progress.
“I’m sorry.” She winced as he quickly pulled back.
“Stop,” he whispered as he pulled her chin up so she would look into his eyes. “Don’t apologize.”
“But I acted all tough and then you touch me and-“
“And I should have known better than to push it so far so soon.” He rolled so he was back on his side and pulled her head onto his chest. “I will do anything for you, Gem. And that includes taking our time so I can prove to you that I’m in this thing.”
“And what if that means you are waiting on me until our wedding night?” It dawned on her what she had said and she considered rolling out of the hammock and running for it until he spoke.
“One, just the fact that you can think of us and wedding day shows how much you are already starting to trust me. Two, if that’s the case then I take my wife to bed and discover her like millions of men have done before me.” He gently kissed the top of her head and the word swoon flashed through her mind. “You, Gemma Andrews, are worth the wait.”

Jay McLean is the author of the More Series, including More Than This, More Than Her, More Than Him and soon to be released, More Than Forever. She also has two standalones coming soon titled The Road, and Combative.
Jay is an avid reader, writer, and most of all, procrastinator. When she's not doing any of those things, she can be found running after her two little boys, or devouring some tacky reality TV show.
She writes what she loves to read, which are books that can make her laugh, make her smile, make her hurt, and make her feel.

FGBB ~ I will just start by saying that I fell head over heels in love with the More series from chapter one. I devoured More Than This in less than 2 days and eagerly await each every new chapter you grant us readers to. The More series has become one of my all time favorite series reads, it’s actually top 5 *wink*. So it is with great shock and anxiety that I attempt to ask questions to a lady I have come to adore and obsess over *fangirling* *crazy Muppet arms*

FGBB ~ Was More than This the first book you had ever attempted to write? If so, where did the inspiration come from?

JAY ~ I can't really say that anything 'inspired' me to write. I only started reading just under two years ago, before that I never really fell into it. One day I opened my laptop and just started typing. Two weeks later, I had 76k words down. I had no intention of publishing it, and I told no one about it. Here I am, almost a year  and five books later…

FGBB ~ How long did it take you to get from chapter 1 page 1 to hit publish with More than This?

JAY ~ I started writing on June 14th. Finished June 30th, and hit publish July 10th.

FGBB ~ The characters in the More series, are beyond fabulous, are they all based on people you know, or are the 100% make believe?

JAY ~ I think there's an element of myself and some people references to some good friends. In More Than Him, I had a lot of quotes and stuff from my conversations with my bestie, Debbie. We met through her reading my books and an amazing friendship formed. She was the one that inspired eleventy three, blowfish jobs, and Jamal.

FGBB ~ How do you motivate yourself to write? And if you get stuck or blocked how do you push through?

JAY ~ I get stuck a lot. My main thing is to just lie in bed and think about future scenes. I also have to write first thing in the morning, before I check all emails, eat, pretty much see my family. Haha.

FGBB ~ Do you set up a story before you begin writing? Or do you just go with the flow??

JAY ~ I have a general story, or at least the main plot, but I don't plot out the entire storyline. I can plan maybe three chapters ahead, but I can barely ever stick to them.

FGBB ~ I love Jake and Kayla, Logan and Amanda, and I CANNOT wait for Cam and Lucy’s story, do you think that this series will continue on? Could we convince you to keep going??? Whatever is takes J

JAY ~ Haha! I know that when I say goodbye to the More world, it's going to be a sad day. I don't think that I could keep the stories going, if anything I might post a couple of scenes here and there for free on my website just for readers to enjoy. But I have another full novel, and then a novella and I think I'm done. BUT—that's not to say that there aren't characters you'll meet in More Than Forever that won't get their own spinoff series. Just sayin'.

FGBB ~ Out of all of the characters you have created, who is your favorite and why?

JAY ~ You can't make me choooooose!!! I won't do it.

FGBB ~ Are you as emotional while writing as we are while reading?

JAY ~ Yes. I sob like a little bitch. I've never cried as much as I have than when I was writing More Than Forever.

FGBB ~ Who are your author heroes? Who makes you Fan Girl?

JAY ~ Colleen Hoover and Tijan. I pissed my pants when Tijan messaged me one day asking to meet Drunk Lucy in real life. I swear it, I squealed! Now, it's a little weird because we've become such great friends. CoHo on the other hand, all I could do when I met her was cry. Legit, cry.

FGBB ~ What has been the most rewarding and effecting about becoming a complete rock star to your legions of adoring fans?

JAY ~ Holy crap you make me sound a lot better than I am! I think the most rewarding thing has been meeting friends for life and fucking oceans<- that's what we say because we live oceans apart. I feel blessed for having such an amazing reader base. My readers own my heart. I can't put into words what that support means to me. And I'm writer—it's my job to find the words—but when it comes to my readers and their passion for my More world, no words exist.

~ FGBB ~ Random side note -> We have fans on the page that love you so much they want to dry hump you, LOL! Inappropriate much? Awkward?? Still LMAO…
I personally think that this series could continue indefinitely just like the With Me in Seattle series by Kristen Proby… I LOVE IT THAT MUCH!!! All of the fans of this series would agree I guarantee it <3 Think about it Jay, think about it...

Dominion
(Dominion #1)
by
I had no idea what to expect the night I went in search of a translator for an 800-year old French illuminated manuscript but it certainly wasn't what I found -- Michel and Julien de Cernay: 800-year old identical twin vampire brothers – beautiful, tempermental opposites, both wanting me for themselves.

Michel -- dark, brooding, control-freak, former priest who broke his vows the night he was turned into a vampire. Julien -- impetuous, valiant, passionate, a brave knight who lost his life on a battlefield when a vampire claimed him.

Caught between the two brothers, I search for the truth about my mother's death, my birth, and the fight to prevent Dominion – vampire rule over humans. My mother gave her life to keep me safe, but was unable to protect herself. Now, I can't escape this fate nor can I escape them -- even if I wanted to.

This is my story.

Here Be Sexist Vampires

(The Deep In Your Veins Series)
by

Sam Parker is a vampire with a gift so strong and substantial that she is invited to partake in a test for a place in the Grand High Master Vampire’s private army. She finds that not only has the army never included a woman, but it has never included a Sventé vampire; a breed that is regarded by the super strong Pagori breed and the hypnotically beautiful Keja breed to be too tame and human-like. Most refuse to take her seriously, especially a Pagori commander named Jared who she craves in spite of herself. The Grand High Master, however, sees her potential and offers her the position of Jared’s co-commander to help train the newest squad in time for the impending attack on his home. Sam has to demonstrate to Jared and the squad of chauvinists why it is incredibly foolish to underestimate a wilful, temperamental, borderline-homicidal Sventé female.

Warning: This novel contains an iron-willed female vampire with an energy whip, a sexist male vampire who is determined to have her, explicit vampy sex, and a romance story with real bite.
She also meets his brother Julien, a brash and mercurial opposite to Michel's calm determination. The temperamental opposite of Michel, Julien tries to complicate the budding romance between Eve and Michel in the hopes of winning Eve for himself. The brothers play a dangerous game of power with an ancient enemy in an effort to prevent Dominion -- when vampires rule over humans.

Gifted with paranormal skills, planning to follow in her mother’s footsteps as a vampire hunter, Eve is torn between loyalty to her mother’s cause and her desire for these twins.

Erotic, suspenseful and fast-paced, the Dominion series will keep you turning pages as Eve searches for the truth about her mother’s death, her birth and her desires.

Dark Light
(Dark Light #1)
by

Love. Sex. Magic.
Before her 20th birthday, Gabriella was pretty much clueless about all three. In love with her best guy friend since the age of 14 and too crass and intimidating for most of the male population of Colorado Springs, love and good sex were virtually a myth.

And while everything about him feels oh so good, she soon learns that there’s more behind his crystal blue eyes, chiseled body and exotic beauty. Something dark, menacing and downright unnatural.
